[Oneshot] Four worlds KinKi Kids never lived in...
Title: Four worlds they never lived in and one they did
Author: Kaede Hikari
Pairing: Domoto Koichi/Domoto Tsuyoshi (KinKi Kids)
Rating: PG
Genre: Fluff. Somewhat introspective.
a/n: Written for the T&T and KK ficathon. The original prompt was "five worlds they never lived in" but my muses decided to ignore me. Some of these are based on drama, please read the author notes at the bottom. Enjoy~~

1.

Yamato was expecting Makuhara to be crowded in such a day as Christmas Eve; he still wished they weren’t surrounded by people and way too many blinking lights. Staring at the monument with hundred of names on it he felt like if all those people were invading their city. He hadn’t been there for 20 years, the months they spent there were somewhat blurry and he couldn’t remember some details anymore. But he recalled every moment on that night from 1997 like if they have never left.
He looked to his right side just in time to see the tears coming from Takeru’s eyes before he quickly wiped them. Yamato took his hand out of his parka and took Takeru’s on his own without saying a word.

“Feeling sad Leader?”

“Are you asking me that?”

Takeru just smiled and sniffled. His face looked tired, he had been working last minute on a complicated case and the 3 hours in train had not been enough time to sleep. Suddenly he felt something on his left leg, a kid had bumped into him and dropped his candy cane; before he could do anything a woman appeared and took the kid away while muttering apologies. Yamato looked as she threw the candy into a trash bin. Takeru’s words distracted him.

“Do you think they remember?” he asked in a small voice, staring into the surface where his sister’s name was engraved.

“If we remember, they must remember too, don’t you think?”

Takeru just nodded.

“Mori was so small. I wonder how he looks now”

“I bet he’s taller than me.”

“Yamato… a lot of people is taller than you”

Some minutes passed when they heard a low voice behind them. Turning their heads, four smiles greeted them back.

“You’re late”

Yamato put a fake annoyed face but he couldn’t help but smile a little.

“The next meeting is in Kansai.”

“Oh he’s in Leader’s mode today.”

They laughed as they walked away from the monument into the city. If any of them noticed that Yamato didn’t let go of Takeru’s hand they didn’t say a word.

2.

Tsuyoshi always looks into mirrors. It is almost obsessive he realizes when he stares five minutes straight into the small mirror the woman at his side is holding. He shakes his head and closes his eyes until the train reaches its station.

He feels disappointed when the mirror at the end of the corridor looks lifeless and doesn’t greet him back home. Laughing at himself he throws the keys on the table and decides to cook a decent meal for once.

Like every night he sits in front of his TV, five years later the photograph is still on the table. He thinks he’s sane enough while he doesn’t talk to it. It irritates him, he wasn’t the one with philosophical thoughts, he didn’t talk about people feelings, that one was Koichi. It irritates him, because he realizes, five years have passed and he’s still running away from everything.

When 12th of June comes, he always takes the day off and avoids to look into mirrors, even if he still wanders around the city.

This year he leaves an empty apartment behind and he doesn’t take the day off, he quit two weeks ago. He only carries a small bag with a few “basic” items and the only thing left in the apartment is the photograph on the table.

He doesn’t know what he will do if he doesn’t find the mirror but there is no way back now. The sun is high on the sky when he finds it, it’s far away from the park and suddenly feels scared, he doesn’t recognize the place on the other side. He hesitates for a moment before he touches it, he reassures himself that he can always go back.

The mirror takes him to another bathroom, a public one. Some minutes later he realizes the bathroom belongs to a hospital and quickly makes his way out before someone asks him what he is doing there.

He sits on the bench in front of the main door and looks up whenever he hears footsteps. After a while he gets tired and only stares at his own feet, is already dark and he doesn’t know what to do. Suddenly there is another pair of shoes in his line of view, slowly he looks up. Koichi seems more shocked than the first time and is unable to speak.

“Hello?”

“Why? How, why are you here?”

Tsuyoshi laughs at him and Koichi relaxes and allows himself to smile even if he still doesn’t know what is going on. Tsuyoshi coughs, his face serious.

“I’m not going back. I’m not going back to the future”

Koichi’s eyes widen and he doesn’t speak for a while, he keeps staring into Tsuyoshi’s almost waiting for him to reveal it’s a bad joke. But he doesn’t. He sighs, but he’s not mad, not at all.

“And that’s everything you bring with you?” he says pointing to the bag.

“I’ve got everything I need” Tsuyoshi answers as he opens it. He takes two baseball gloves.

“Let’s play catch ball”

3.

Tsuyoshi watches as his sister checks the mail when she comes home. Every day is the same, but the letter she’s expecting never comes. He puts on some clothes and heads out to play basketball. He refuses to show his face on TV anymore. He never makes it to a Hikaru Genji concert.

Koichi forgets about the letter in a couple of months, when his sister reminds him he shrugs it off. He has more important things to do after all, he says, before heading to his baseball match. It pisses him off a little, but he doesn’t show it.

Tsuyoshi doesn’t care much about high school. He doesn’t get the best grades but he’s smart enough to pass without much effort. His mother tells him to get a public oriented job, his father doesn’t like the idea. He doesn’t think much before applying to a university in Osaka.

Koichi ends his high school life with honours and thinks carefully about his future. Some months later he finds himself in a packed train to Osaka in his first day as a Kansai University student. He adjusts his glasses when the train stops for the third time and goes back to his aerodynamics book.

Tsuyoshi takes his headphones from his bag. Before he presses the play button he hears the guy at his left side muttering something about taking the wrong train. He giggles. Koichi looks at him and Tsuyoshi bows his head apologetically.

Koichi laughs and closes his book. He bows a little and gets off at the next station.

Tsuyoshi keeps a smile on his face and moves his head to the rhythm of the music for the rest of the ride.

4.

Koichi has everything a man could ask for in his life, a TV program with high ratings, a wide amount of fans all over the country, a nice pay check every month and a red Ferrari. He doesn’t have many friends, neither a girlfriend, but he figures a few close friends are enough and really, a girlfriend will come someday. He ponders if he should worry about it when marriage and kids begins to be a usual topic in magazine interviews but after some minutes he forgets about it, he has too many things to do today.

Koichi doesn’t like worrying about things, he’s the type to do something instead of waiting for everything to happen and if being single doesn’t seem like a problem then he is not going to change it soon. He never runs out of excuses but the one he never uses is the real one, there is something missing, something that makes him feel lonely and he doesn’t like because he can’t understand it. He guesses if he can put this feeling aside then everything is fine, and getting married will only make this feeling deeper.

It hits him again before recording but successfully manages to forget about it; today they have a guest with strange clothes and even stranger name. He gets surprised when the man says he comes from Kansai and his actual name is Domoto Tsuyoshi. He jokes if he should hire him and change the name to “Domoto Kyoudai”, the audience doesn’t seem to like it but Keri laughs. Koichi feels accomplished.

He doesn’t know why but later in the night he sits at the counter of a bar with the aforementioned Domoto Tsuyoshi, while the staff and some Endlicheri members talk loudly. It takes them almost an hour and a few drinks to make a normal conversation. Keri, no, Tsuyoshi, he wanted to be called Tsuyoshi, is talking about reincarnation like if he’s talking about the weather.

“I don’t really believe in reincarnation… but if it was true I guess this is my last life.”

Tsuyoshi raises an eyebrow. “Why so?”

“I’m quite happy with my life right now, I don’t think another life will be better than this one,” he takes a sip from his glass and realizes that this time it doesn’t feel like a lie.

Tsuyoshi nods and looks at him like he can read his mind.

A month passes by when he gets a mail from Tsuyoshi whom he never gave his number to; he’s invited to an Endlicheri live in two weeks. Koichi tugs the phone back in his bag smiling and prepares himself for the show he’s attending today. It seems the topic is marriage.

Three days later Tsuyoshi receives a mail back, he isn’t surprised to read the only word it contains: “OK”. Keri-san makes a blast of that night’s show.

5.

“If you mess up the lyrics for Mou kimi again Johnny is going to scold you… Again.”

Koichi opens his mouth to make up an excuse when Tsuyoshi raises an eyebrow. He closes it again and pouts. Tsuyoshi goes back to his own room. Koichi hears the laughter coming from the corridor.

“I can hear you Tsuyoshi!”

Two hours later they’re on stage, standing in front of thousands of people. It’s time for an MC and Koichi doesn’t really knows what he is talking about until he repeats that he wouldn’t be the same if he wasn’t in Kinki kids. Realization comes when Tsuyoshi doesn’t answer back. He shouts at the audience to shut up when they all squeal, they call him baldhead in return.

He looks at Tsuyoshi from the corner of his eye to find him with a triumphant face, walking around with a water bottle in his hand. After some seconds Tsuyoshi makes an expected comeback.

“Maybe in a parallel universe you’re even more boring!”

When the conversation mutates into a ‘let’s search a friend for Koichi’ contest he makes a mental note to search for multiverses on the internet as soon as he gets home; and to slap Tsuyo’s butt in the next song.

A/N the second:

First drabble comes from the drama Bokura no Yuuki, Tsuyo plays Takeru and Koichi plays Yamato. I wonder how would their meeting in 20 years be. If you haven't watched, go ahead and do it. It's awesome ♥

Second drabble is my lame way to get them a happy ending. From the pv story they made from the G album. You can watch it subbed here. I find it amusing that they are somewhat OOC in their own pvs.

Third. The only thing I know about Tsuyoshi's father is that he divorced years ago and Tsuyo never talks about him. I think the Tsuyoshi in this world will drop university at some point.

The end~

these are all great, and extra love for poking at Yamato's small stature in the BNY fic! I didn't quite get #4 but I'll re-read it again to see if there was something I missed. @__@

and,
“Maybe in a parallel universe you’re even more boring!”
= my absolute favourite line
Kae: Detectivekaede_hikari on September 1st, 2008 11:43 am (UTC)
thank you!! 4th one is kinda weird xDD I wanted to play with the possiblity of them being solo artists; Koichi is still a johnny I guess. Budhismm says that you reincarnate multiple times until you have a "complete" life. Koichi meets Tsuyo who talks about this, Koichi doesn't know why but he feels his life is complete so he won't reincarnate. (I, of course, know the reason is because he met Tsuyo ehhh *shot*) I'm cheesy like that. xD I was also being very vage ^^;;

thanks for reading!

Diiess

It's too much for me to write any comments

*take deep breath*

Yoosha! *begin to write*
I simply LIKE IT! Lotsa!

1 and 5 are brilliant!

While 3 and 4 are too enticing me to read more of these alternate worlds! I really thrilled to read more, until I think 'if only you would like to develop the idea of them in these two worlds to become a complete fic....' I'm surely very happy xD

Anyway you're really good!
Kae: Detectivekaede_hikari on September 2nd, 2008 10:31 am (UTC)
EEEeeeee this comment makes me happy *dances* thanks a lot lot <33

You know xD I can't even imagine right now how I could make a fic out of four but! as I said once I finished 3 I was like: man poor Tsuyo is going to drop uni ;o;. And then I stopped thinking before the idea took over my mind, because it was supposed to be one of these encounters you have once in a lifetime. And because I should focus on je_holiday, but when you least expect it, I might write a real fic. It won't leave me alone for sure xDDD

Thank you again!! ♥♥

Woah, interesting and creative ideas. =D Especially love [3] and [4], and [5] is so cute.

Eeto, if you don't mind me pointing out, [2] seems to have a bit of grammatical problems..?
Kae: Detectivekaede_hikari on September 3rd, 2008 11:54 am (UTC)
Thank you! :D

Ah Really? I couldn't find them ^^; but thanks for pointing out, english is not my first language, help is always appreciated ;D
kireirakireira on September 3rd, 2008 05:14 pm (UTC)
Ah, I'm just a bit confused with "he didn’t talk about people feelings", is it maybe missing some words?

Other than that I felt some commas could perhaps be substituted with fullstops (but maybe it's the style you wanted?) and the dialogues at the end were missing fullstops-- which is a very minor issue.. just that I tend to notice these things. ^^0

So uh, I hope I don't come across as criticizing. ^^0 Since your other pieces were fine I thought there might be typing slips that somehow escaped for this one.
